There was a day when a video camera was a bulky black box requiring a resting place on your shoulder or a tripod for steady shots– even then, the best you could hope for was a grainy VHS or Hi8 memory sure to fade along with the tape quality. Today, you can have digital HD quality in the palm of your hand with no tapes to worry about and files that play well with editing software and video sharing sites. TechVi’s newest contributor, Rich DeMuro, shows us 5 HD . Distributed by Tubemogul.

Sony are in many people’s opinion just superb. Do I own one? Yes I do. What are they really like though?

This brand of is popular due to it’s wide variety and lots of innovative features, plus you can pick them up these days for quite a pleasing price. To be blunt, Sony’s are, in my opinion, among the best.

These little beauties come fitted with an Easy Handycam mode, which makes operating the camcorder an absolute breeze. If you’ve used other brands before and had to read the manual over and over you’ll know exactly what I mean. Indeed Sony are extremely popular for their ease of use whilst also being a favorite amongst the point and shoot enthusiasts.

For years DV format and its corresponding ruled the market. However, in the recent years, there has been new development in audiovisual technology and today we find the popularity of another format growing by the day. This is the DVD format.

The DVD format has many advantages over the other formats. In terms of cost we find that because of its popularity, the DVD format ends up being extremely cost effective. Not only is the storage media extremely inexpensive and widely available, it is also very easy to transfer or store files in this format since the storage as well as the recording is totally digital. Sony DV cameras such as the Digital8 format and the minidv are great bang for the buck and can be found used for $150 and up. I like Sony because they all have both USB and Firewire ports that can plug directly into the computer for direct capture or for dumping taped footage. Review by Peter Roger Taylor (Anchorage, AK USA) 2010-02-23
This camera has tons of features that I haven't tried yet. I taped a hockey tournament and banquet and found the camera very easy to use. I like the dual zoom feature-the zoom on the side goes slow/fast depending on how far you push the bar. On the handle you can select slow or fast zoom and thats nice for doing music videos as it pans in and out a...  Read more Sony HDR-FX7 3-CMOS reviews

Review by Barbara A. Jackson (Cookeville, TN United States) 2010-07-28
I bought my Webbie from Sony before the cameras hit the stores. I have other cameras for serious filming and this was my point and shoot for filming my kids in action. Recently two of my files which were OK, just disappeared from the card. I didn't think too much about it. I put in a new card, shot several scenes then transferred those videos to m...  Read more Sony Webbie MHS-PM1 reviews

I noticed that these are still available and just want to warn people to not be seduced with steep discounts on this absolutely horrible camcorder. I suffered with mine for a year before finally replacing it recently. Throughout the whole year I watched others get much better results with Flips, Kodaks, and anything else.

I originally...  Read more Sony Webbie MHS-CM1 reviews

I had read the reviews on this Sony on various sites, and wasn't very big on it. I wanted something small, and not have to bring my camera along, but with more time to record video, since most point and shoots have minimum 30min on the 4 gig cards.
I happened to see the Bloggie at Sam's Club, and read the info on the box, and was quite imp...  Read more Sony MHS-PM5 bloggie reviews

      I simply loved it!
Capture high quality image/video for its size. Software installation a bit tricky for windows 7 (Required update). I have no problem with the placement of still shot button. I always use 2 hands anyway. I think Sony did that on purpose for the user to be able to hold the camera steady. With one hand, it will be hard to avo...  Read more Sony MHS-PM5 bloggie reviews
